Our annual Dwell With Dignity project involving planning, designing, and installation to completely refurnish a home was completed last week for a woman and her 2 year-old daughter who are transitioning out of homelessness.

Creating color palettes, refurbishing furniture, creating original art, and purchasing accessories, the IDSDFW has spent the last three months designing a comprehensive visual overhaul of a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment with a family room, dining area and kitchen. With an art-filled and feminine design, the apartment will be fully furnished, decorated, and even provided with a brand new flat-screen television, all by IDSDFW members, design partners, and corporate supporters in Dallas (including Neiman MarcusHorchow, and The Container Store).

Dwell With Dignity’s singular mission to help families escape poverty and homelessness through the power of design, one household at a time. The Dwell with Dignity volunteer corps is composed of interior designers and corporate supporters dedicated to creating soothing, inspiring homes for families by designing, providing and installing home interiors that include furnishings, art, bedding, kitchen supplies, and even food in the pantry.

Stephanie, Secretary of IDSDFW adds, “What an amazing opportunity it is for us to partner with Dwell with Dignity and be able to give back to our community. This project is a reminder that we all are positively affected and influenced by bringing others together to create a better environment to live in. Since we are hands-on in this project, it’s wonderful to create a comfortable and livable space for families as they continue to better themselves and their lives.”
